Vermont was among the first states in the nation whose lawmakers made hemp production legal. Before the 2014 Farm Bill, and for only a $25 registration fee, anyone could participate. Hemp Vermont was underway.

The AAFM submitted the proposed Vermont Hemp Rules to the Vermont Secretary of State's Office on May 17, 2019. The proposed rule filing number is 19P045 .
The last day for public comment on the rules is July 5, 2019 (no earlier than seven days following last hearing).

New VT Hemp Legislation
An Act relating to the State hemp program - Act No. 44 (S.58)
Signed into law on May 30, 2019. This act amends existing statutes regulating the growing of hemp to establish the State Hemp Program and to bring State law into conformance with the requirements of the 2018 Federal Farm Bill for the growing and selling of hemp and hemp products.
